Invera and SigmaTEK Systems Release STRATIX/SigmaNEST

Invera and SigmaTEK Systems have announced the release of STRATIX/SigmaNEST, a module that provides real-time bi-directional packaged integration between the STRATIX ERP and SigmaNEST, as part of the metal service center software, STRATIX.

STRATIX/SigmaNEST is a transaction management product that enables STRATIX inventory and orders to be downloaded to SigmaNEST and the final optimized nest to be uploaded back into STRATIX without any manual intervention. SigmaNEST a leading CAD/CAM nesting system for profile cutting and punching machines.

"A seamless integration of native metal industry terminology, functions and features make STRATIX quick to deploy with minimum implementation costs," said a company spokesperson. The STRATIX software includes sales, purchasing, receiving, inventory management, multi-step production, production scheduling, delivery and logistics planning, invoicing and financials.

STRATIX is designed to handle all types of ferrous and non-ferrous products of all forms, including coils, sheets, structural products, wire, pipe and tubing, rebar, mesh, bars, roll formed products, panels/profiles and building products.

A new release of the STRATIX software is provided on an annual basis. All enhancements are built into the standard package and included in future releases of the software.

"For metal service centers and plate processors that perform plate cutting, plate burning, waterjet cutting and laser cutting, the introduction of STRATIX/SigmaNEST significantly improves overall company productivity and provides better nesting options," the spokesperson said. "Improvements in productivity include the following areas:

  • Real-time availability of inventory and remnant stock information to sales.
  • Reduction in material costs.
  • Improvement in planning staff productivity.
  • Improved order profitability.
  • Improved customer service.

"STRATIX/SigmaNEST eliminates the need to manually load inventory and new orders into SigmaNEST and automatically forwards inventory allocation after nesting from SigmaNEST to STRATIX. Through the use of bi-directional product code mapping and real-time transfer of order and inventory transactions between STRATIX and SigmaNEST, the STRATIX/SigmaNEST product maintains live-update inventory and remnant synchronization. This real-time 'communication' offers users the security that customers' orders are processed accurately and promptly.

"Remnants are recorded with diagrams and plate details and stored in STRATIX for availability to all users within an organization. Inventory transactions for product items that meet 'inventory extraction rules' are exported to SigmaNEST with each transaction when the information is updated in STRATIX in real-time. When required, inventory for an entire warehouse can be updated on-demand."

"STRATIX and SigmaNEST communicate similarly in order fulfillment cases and cases related to inventory control. The integration offered by STRATIX/SigmaNEST enables automatic work order item creation in SigmaNEST once a STRATIX order item is entered. When STRATIX orders are changed or deleted, the updated information is automatically sent to SigmaNEST through STRATIX/SigmaNEST for real-time synchronization.

"Production planners use SigmaNEST to optimize material utilization and processing speed for improved cutting efficiency. When the nesting process is complete, the nest information is transmitted to STRATIX so that STRATIX jobs can be automatically created. STRATIX jobs can then be scheduled and recorded in STRATIX.

"Once jobs are complete, STRATIX automatically informs SigmaNEST of accurate inventory usage and remnant information, so that the SigmaNEST inventory remains accurate, and the related work-orders are completed properly."

Tony Di Tomaso, Vice President of Customer Services of Invera, said, "This packaged integration will eliminate the double-entry required when a metal service center does not have the two systems fully integrated. It will also substantially improve the productivity of the production and CAD departments that plan and handle production. A number of customers that perform plate cutting and processing are very eager to implement this product. This packaged integration is a joint collaboration between Invera and SigmaTEK Systems. Both systems required modifications to provide the optimal interface for our customers."

Ben TerreBlanche, President and CEO of SigmaTEK Systems, said, "SigmaNEST and STRATIX have developed a fully synchronized solution for steel service centers to integrate ERP and CAD/CAM. By providing real-time, bi-directional data flow, STRATIX/SigmaNEST ensures maximum productivity and streamlined cooperation between the business side and the manufacturing side."
