LA-CO Offers Hand-Held Marking Solutions

LA-CO Industries, a diversified manufacturer of the Markal brand, offers independently analyzed certified Markal industrial marking products, including Certified Valve Action Paint Markers and Certified Thermomelt Heat Stik Markers.

The family of certified Markal products has gone through extensive, independent analysis for certification to meet EDF PMUC, MIL - STD-2041D, US DOE RDT F-7-3T (expired) and U.S. Navy C3070 specifications, the company said.

Suitable for, but not limited to, use on applications that generate nuclear power, such as power plant facilities and shipbuilding, these certified Markal-branded marking tools are designed to eliminate the added expense and long lead time that distributors and end-users experience when certifying and financing their own batch of marking tools for jobs that require the use of certified products, such as military and nuclear applications.

"By listening to our valued distributors and end-users in the field first, we are able to develop marking solutions to meet the industry needs and demands," said Kevin Talbott, Market Manager for the Industrial Division of LA-CO/Markal. "We know the exceptional cost and burden that a welding professional or distributor would need to go through in order to obtain certified marking tools. We wanted to help streamline that process for our customers, further enhancing the breadth and depth of our family of products."

Engineered to provide safe and durable use on stainless steel and other super alloys, these Certified Valve Action Paint Markers also meet the following specifications: less than 200 PPM total halogens, less than 250 PPM each low melting point metals, less than 300 PPM total low melting point metals and less than 200 PPM sulfur. Also, each Certified Valve Action Paint Marker can be identified by the batch code. In addition, at any time any Markal customer can easily access the individual batch analysis and certification documents online, by referencing the batch code imprinted on every certified marker.

"The certified line of faster drying, xylene-free Valve Action Paint Markers also reduces smears so that users can handle marked items almost immediately, increasing efficiency on a variety of tough, industrial applications such as parts identification, quality-control marking, layout and cut lines and color coding," said a company spokesperson. "Plus, with a durable 1/8 inch thick nib, the certified line of Valve Action Markers can mark on rougher surfaces than conventional nibs, creating both fine-line and bold, thick marks that remain visible from long distances.

"Designed to provide accurate, fast and low-cost temperature measurements, the Certified Thermomelt Heat-Stik is designed for use within nuclear power plants, shipbuilding, atomic energy and anywhere nuclear certification is required and where temperature measurement is critical to the process. These applications can include preheating, post-weld heat-treating, interpass temperature monitoring, stress relieving, annealing and others. When an initial mark is made with the Certified Thermomelt Heat Stik, it appears dull and chalky; when the desired temperature is reached, the mark quickly melts to a glossy liquid, providing a reliable, visible and accurate mark.

"Available in 20 exact temperature ratings from 38 degrees Celsius up to 343 degrees Celsius, with consistent accuracy within +/- one percent, the new Certified Thermomelt Heat Stiks are specifically analyzed and certified to contain low concentrations of halogens (less than 200 PPM total halogens), sulfur and low melting point metals (less than 250 PPM). Within the family of 138 Thermomelt marking solutions, 19 are certified, meeting the necessary specifications. Certification and analysis are also available at www.markal.com."
