Snap-on Specialty Tools Implements CribMaster

"Gaining tighter control of perishable tooling is an enormous challenge for manufacturers. Mismanaged tooling inventory can be very costly. For Snap-on Specialty Tools (City of Industry, CA), running at peak efficiency to maintain its high standards in machining quality specialty tools was paramount," said a company spokesperson.

"The availability of tooling is critical in the flow of our business," said Ed Deamer, Manufacturing Operations Manager.

Seeking a solution, Snap-on consulted with its long-term tooling supplier, D&D Tool and Supply. Their recommendation was two-fold. One was to improve productivity by introducing newer cutting tool technology, and secondly, to control its tooling usage by implementing CribMaster. "The features of the system, such as critical alerts and optimum order levels, improved productivity by ensuring no stock-outs," said the company spokesperson. "In fact, together with the improved cutting tool technology and CribMaster, productivity increased 7.89% in one year.

"Additionally, the reports generated by the CribMaster software not only allowed the company to streamline its inventory and reduce downtime, but it provided greater visibility in tracking usage history by employee and by machine."
