Artis Systems, a unit of Marposs S.p.A., will present its new CTM-V5 system for monitoring and controlling metalcutting processes on various types of machine tools at WESTEC 2012.

The CTM-V5 system is suitable for a variety of applications in metalcutting. Various options are available to permit monitoring of tool breakage and missing tools, monitoring of tool wear, machine condition and collision monitoring, tool and machine protection, automatic process control, process analysis and statistics and process visualization. The system can be used in single item or series production. The status of various machine components can also be recorded with the CTM-V5 system for preventive maintenance. The monitoring and adaptive control capabilities make the CTM-V5 system particularly beneficial for protecting large and/or high-value components such as those in aerospace manufacturing, the company said.

The Artis Systems CTM-V5 utilizes a plug-in card for simple installation. It can be installed in new or existing machine tools and is independent of control or machine manufacturer.
