Shop Floor Automations (SFA) will present and demonstrate a variety of productivity enhancing solutions at WESTEC 2012.

SFA will demonstrate job scheduling software designed to help decision makers achieve best practices in manufacturing planning as well machine monitoring software, the company said.

"A new module called Technical DataPack Direct DNC delivers electronic files directly to the correct machines and work centers. No delays, no old NC file versions and no incomplete shop packets," said an SFA spokesperson. Users will see a demonstration on how the software can close the communication loop to reduce errors and improve overall efficiency in the factory.

The Real Time Viewer utilizes a web based browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer to provide a real time shop floor viewer capable of monitoring machine status, part counts, downtimes, productivity, scrap codes, OEE and more. The Real Time Viewer can be viewed using most web enabled devices, such as laptops, smart phones, PDAs or thin clients. The latest version now includes support for customized views and a rolling dashboard of favorite views based on user login.

The new Shop Floor Data Collection product using Predator Software now includes favorite reports and charts for trends, comparisons, detailed downtime, OEE and other metrics. The product also integrates MT Connect, a manufacturing industry standard to facilitate organized retrieval of process information from CNC machines along with Fanuc Focus Drivers.

The wireless hardware used for most serial based machines now includes connection for network based machines. As machine tool builders include network options, the controller can now be placed on the network wirelessly using SFA's new enhanced single wireless device. A wireless shop floor means high data rates over long distances, secure data with 128-bit and WPA encryption, the ability to network more than 250 machines and mix wired DNC with wireless DNC, the flexibility to easily move machines, plus there is no need to purchase or string cable.

USB Connect, SFA's latest solution to add a memory stick to the CNC control, is changing how many users view USB on the shop floor, said the company. The device comes in two models: a 'pendant' mounted unit, which is attached to the control and connects through the serial connection, and a 'portable' unit, which can be used across a variety of machines as a primary or backup NC program manager. One of the benefits of USB Connect is the ability to handle larger file sizes, up to 16 GB.
