Unist to Display New Lubrication SystemMarch 1, 2012
Unist will be displaying its new Revolution lubrication solution for CNC machining centers at WESTEC 2012. The Unist Revolution is designed to bridge the gap between Unist MQL technology and CNC machines by communicating directly with the CNC machine's M-Code outputs. The Revolution features M-Code input to control two MQL outputs (external spray nozzles or through-the-spindle lubrication) and a pulsed air blow-off nozzle.
The Revolution can be set to provide varying output for each tool in a CNC machine based on the CNC program. This tight integration allows for optimization of each machining process. The optional air blow-off nozzle can be actuated for operations such as pocket milling where chip removal can be problematic. "The Revolution brings the benefits of minimum quantity lubrication to the automated world of CNC machining," said a company spokesperson.
The system features user-selectable maximum oil output, oil delivery in programmable steps, electronically controlled airflow via proportional flow valves and Unist's positive displacement oil pumps. The Revolution was developed specifically for OEM installations on CNC machines but can easily be retrofitted on existing machines with available M-Code outputs, the company said.
