Rubber Industries Offers Custom Liquid Silicone Medical Molding and Bonding ComponentsApril 1, 2012
When medical device designers asked for custom components with improved performance properties, Rubber Industries answered with its Liquid Silicone Molding and Bonding service, the company said.
Custom liquid silicone medical molded and bonded components are designed to remain flexible and elastic beyond -70 degrees F and retain properties up to 450 degrees F. Silicone rubber is a suitable design option for many medical components and devices such as gaskets, seals, buttons and bellows. Liquid silicone rubber bonds well to other materials including metal and plastic to form assemblies used in diagnostic equipment such as CT scanning systems and blood analyzers.
Rubber Industries' liquid silicone medical molding and bonding is designed to provide a fast cure and cycle time. Liquid silicone rubber material has low compression set and resists damaging effects of light, ozone, moisture and heat for extended wear life. Rubber Industries offers many liquid silicone rubber grades including UL, FDA, health care, oil resistant and high strength.
"From print to part in 10 days, medical designers will find Rubber Industries' LIMFAST of help on new projects," said a company spokesperson. "Where fast track R&D programs require short response time, Rubber Industries' exclusive LIMFAST service is designed to quickly provide prototype quantities." It allows the designer to evaluate liquid silicone formulations for specific color and performance requirements. It also allows the designer to evaluate a product design utilizing production grade tooling and dedicated molding equipment. (LIMFAST parts are normally shipped within 10 working days after receipt of order. Test parts containing inserts will take slightly longer as will complex shapes.)
