Lincoln Electric Adds Tomahawk 1000 to Plasma Cutting System Line

Lincoln Electric has added the Tomahawk 1000 to its line of plasma cutters, now offering customers a portable machine that's light enough to carry and rugged enough to use on 1-inch material for production fabrication or project work, the company said.

The IP23-rated Tomahawk plasma cutting systems are designed for cutting mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass and copper in almost any work environment. These models are suitable for use in general fabrication, maintenance, service tasks, HVAC work and rental applications. With the optional LC65M Machine Torch, the Tomahawk 1000 can be used for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and robotic cutting applications.

The new plasma cutter features continuous output control to focus the plasma arc for up to 3/4"(19.01 mm) recommended, 1" (25.4 mm) maximum and 1-1/4" (31.75 mm) severance cut thicknesses. The machine produces 20-60 amps output and is rated at 40 amps at 96 volts, 100 percent duty cycle or 60 amps at 104 volts, 50 percent duty cycle. The machine operates on 208 through 575 volt input power on single- or three-phase, 50 or 60 Hz input power.

A Touch Start system delivers reliable plasma arc initiation without high frequency, while its rapid arc restrike capability is designed to ensure users can quickly cut through gaps and expanded metal.

The front-panel purge control feature makes it easy to adjust air flow without initiating a plasma arc. The new electrode and nozzle design prolong consumable life for cost efficiency while keeping operating temperatures cool, the company said.

As with the entire new Tomahawk line, the 1000 is offered with the Lincoln Electric Parts-In-Place system that detects proper installation of the torch and consumables.

The Tomahawk 1000 comes standard with a LC65 hand plasma cutting torch, air regulator and pressure gauge, cables, work clamp, spare consumables and an input power cord. This unit can be powered in remote locations with the company's engine-driven welder/generators, including the Ranger and Vantage lines.
