Bucci Industries Offers IEMCA Master HF BarfeederMay 1, 2012
Bucci Industries USA addresses the problem of channel changeovers for bars of varying diameters with its IEMCA Master HF barfeeder. The HF, which stands for "Hyper-Flexibility," is intended to define this barfeeder's response to the customer's need to reduce channel set changeover time, the company said.
"We've had customers tell us that the channel changeovers that are required for setting up jobs with various diameters kills the profitability on small lot jobs. It just takes too much time to set the barfeeder up to run," said Cory Miller, Vice President of Operations for Bucci Industries, USA. "Our Master HF will run material with diameters ranging from 15 mm to the maximum capacity of the lathe spindle. There is no need to change guide channels or spindle liners. Just change the collet and the bushing and go."
Bucci Industries USA is responding to the manufacturing market's trend toward smaller lot sizes with the Master HF. The magazine-style barfeeder does not have to change channel sets throughout its entire range (.590" to 3.125"), thereby eliminating the need and cost for extra channel sets initially and the elimination of ongoing set-up, operational and changeover job costs. Changeover of job bar stock size has been kept to an engineered minimum of the bar stock collet to bar size and the steady rest urethane bushings, a combined 3-minute task.
The IEMCA Master HF has been placed into service on new CNC fixed headstock lathes but can also be added or upgraded from older barfeed equipment and machines, with appropriate magazine barfeed interface. Bucci Industries USA offers installation and training for all of its IEMCA barfeeders products.
