Kennametal's Knowledge Center recently brought its Regional Metalcutting Application Course to North Texas. The two-day seminar covered a broad range of topics for the selection and use of metalcutting tools.
The course was divided into four sections: mechanics of metalcutting, materials technology, selection and application, and machining economics. In-depth coverage of each was provided, from basics to trouble-shooting. With finite supplies and rising costs, the importance of recycling carbide inserts was highlighted as well. Presentations were lecture-style, and attendees were furnished with notes and text materials on the topics presented.
The two-day training seminars are held throughout North America, and are designed to provide state-of-the-art information to mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, tool engineers, process engineers, shop supervisors and technical specialists in machining. Upcoming seminars can be found on the Kennametal website.
Kennametal's Technology Center also holds four-day Metalcutting Application Courses at its headquarters in Latrobe, PA. Courses are offered at the basic and advanced levels, and include classroom, lab, and machine demonstrations.
