Technical Equipment Sales, a distributor of manufacturing equipment serving customers in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, is celebrating 60 years in business in 2012. Olson reports that the company has tripled the size of its service department in recent years and employs a total of 48 people.

Technical Equipment Sales was founded in 1952 by Richard Robinson who initially sold and supported traditional milling and turning machine tools; however, the company established itself as a source for the earliest models of numeric control and electrical discharge machines, the company said. That expertise evolved to shifting its entire focus to CNC machine technology in the early 1980s, and the company continues to provide advanced manufacturing technology in its tri-state service area today. Its principal OEM partners include Doosan CNC lathes and machining centers; Makino precision horizontal and vertical machining centers and EDMs; Tsugami Swiss-turn lathes, machining centers and multifunction machines; Hermle 5-axis vertical universal machining centers; Sheffield Measurement metrology equipment and Romer portable coordinate measuring machines.

In 1992, Technical Equipment Sales was acquired by Morris Group, Inc., a supplier of high performance CNC machine tools and related engineering and support services in North America. "The relationship with Morris Group as our parent company supports our commitment to our customers in major ways," said Olson. "With Morris Group's structure we are able to leverage office functions through Morris, allowing Technical Equipment to focus entirely on servicing our customers.
