Mahr Federal to Feature MarSurf M 400 Skidless Surface GageAugust 1, 2012
Mahr Federal will feature the addition of a new skidless surface evaluation system to its MarSurf line of mobile surface metrology systems at IMTS.
"The new MarSurf M 400 features proprietary motorized probe height adjustment that quickly and automatically zeros the probe in seconds and can cut measurement time in half," said a company spokesperson. "The M 400 also features a magnetic, breakaway probe mounting system that protects sensitive probes from accidental damage and facilitates fast probe changes. The MarSurf M 400 measures all common international parameters and features Bluetooth connectivity between the measuring system and the evaluation unit with integrated thermal printer.
"Skidless tracing of surface characteristics allows the capture of primary, waviness and roughness profiles for the evaluation of more complex parameters. The new MarSurf M 400 offers this capability in a proprietary auto-probe zeroing, which is designed to increase the ease and speed of measurement. The magnetic probe mounting system also protects delicate probes and allows probe arms to be rapidly changed with just a touch.
"Operation of the M 400 is designed to be used alone in different orientations, in combination with various accessories or mounted on a measuring stand. A large color display on the evaluation unit provides clear, concise results and intuitive operator guidance. The unit is compatible with all appropriate DIN, ISO, JIS, ASME and MOTIF standards for the measure of most common surface finish parameters from the P, W and R profiles.
"Also on display at Mahr Federal's booth will be:
- The new generation of Mahr Federal's line of MarCal digital calipers. Included are a number of features, such as lapped guideways, a new reference system that retains the zero position setting and an increased number of product options and accessories. MarCal digital calipers are available with protection against dust and immersion to class IP67. They offer a range of data output options and are available in a range of sizes and blade and anvil configurations for difficult measuring tasks such as grooves, wall thickness on cylindrical parts, center-to-center distance on holes, offset planes and more.
- Mahr Federal's line of Digimar Height Gages, including the newest addition, the Digimar 816 CL designed to provide accurate measurements either on the shop floor or in the lab. Designed for user-friendly operation, the 816 CL utilizes a precise measuring head on stainless steel guideways and a dynamic probing system. Air bearings provide light and smooth movement while accuracy is provided by an optical incremental measurement system with a double head reader that is impervious to dust and other contamination. A motorized measuring carriage is designed to minimize operator influence on probe contact.
- The company's range of bore gages, including the broad families of Dimensionair, Millimar and MaraMeter plug gages. Air gaging has increased in popularity as part tolerances have gotten tighter. It is readily used in production environments. Dimensionair plug gages and Millimar through hole, blind and counterbore plugs even help clean parts by blowing dirt away. MaraMeter plugs are available in a range of configurations, including the Dimentron family of ID bore gages, plus indicating plug gages, adjustable bore gages, pistol grip bore gages, self-centering plugs and blind hole plug gages.
"Mahr Federal will also display its "Max" line of digital indicators as well as a full range of other handheld gages and dimensional metrology systems and products."
