United Performance Metals Installs Slitting Line

United Performance Metals (UPM) has added a new precision 18" turret head slitter capable of slitting coils ranging in thicknesses of .020 to .125. "The turret slitter features state-of-the-art technology, which will yield reduced set-up time, increased line speeds, the ability to pull narrow cuts and overall operator efficiency," said a company spokesperson.

The turret slitter also features a pressure bar system designed to eliminate scratching and reduce camber and an interchangeable rewind drum capable of 16" or 20" I.D. options.

"This slitter is one of a kind," said UPM's Plant Manager Roger Haire. "It offers improvements in quality, consistency and efficiency, which will benefit both our customers and operators."

The UPM family of companies is a supplier of stainless, nickel, cobalt, aluminum and titanium. The company's inventory of high temperature, high strength, corrosion-resistant alloys includes sheet, coil, plate and bar that can be processed to exact specifications using extensive in-house processing capabilities. The United Performance Metals family includes Plus Ten Stainless, Vulcanium and United Performance Metals Asia.
