Shigiya Establishes New U.S. Headquarters

Shigiya (USA) Ltd. recently opened the doors to its new and expanded U.S. headquarters in Schaumburg, IL. According to the company, this facility will enable the world-class manufacturer of cylindrical grinders to provide more efficient overhaul and retrofit services to its North American customers.

More than double the size of its previous headquarters, the 12,000 sq. ft. building includes an overhead crane and can accommodate a sizeable number of machines requiring overhaul and retrofit work. In addition, various Shigiya machine models are on display in the showroom.

The opening of the new facility commenced with a ceremony that included a traditional Japanese Kagami-Biraki where a barrel of sake is broken open with wooden mallets. Several customers, dealership representatives, city officials and Shigiya employees were present for the event.

Shigiya's machine line includes cylindrical grinders, ultra-precision cylindrical grinders, masterless cam grinders, centerless cylindrical grinders and other products. Workpieces processed with Shigiya products include those for automobiles, electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, cutting tools, steelmaking machinery and others.
