Twin Cutter for Internal and External Large Diameter Bores

The new lightweight aluminum bridge for the TwinKom tool is versatile, with a design that allows for use as a double cutter for roughing or a single cutter for finishing applications or as a stepped tool when used with an adaptor. The double cutters are modular and suitable for diameters between 365 mm and 2,000 mm, and can be adjusted within a 40 mm range relative to the cutter diameter. The bridge is also made to suit each customer's particular needs; it is application-oriented and adapted for the hole diameter to be cut. Though KOMET provides flexibility with the TwinKom bridge, customers benefit from standardization and quick order fulfillment.

"The TwinKom bridge's unique design and adjustability make it an ideal solution for many processes. It is made of aluminum, making this a lightweight tool that is energy efficient and easy to load and unload. Despite its lightweight construction, it is quite durable and sturdy in its construction, and is capable of high transmissible torques. The replaceable bridges are equipped for an internal coolant supply, allowing for extended tool life and safe operation on even the toughest of materials. When used for roughing, the tool blocks can be adjusted both radially and axially, for dual cutter use and for cut distribution. If dual cutters are used, cutting time can be reduced by half, as each 180-degree turn translates to one full cutting rotation, making this tool both fast and energy efficient. For finishing applications, fine adjustment of 2 um through scale division is possible, and the fine adjustment insert can be applied directly to the workpiece, without the use of a clamp," said a company spokesperson.

Moreover, the same tool blocks can be used for roughing and finishing in all diameter ranges. The tool can be adapted for all of the most commonly used spindles.
