VISI Software to be Exhibited at Knox Machinery Open House on September 16-18

Tooling Software Technology (TST), LLC, will exhibit the efficiency-boosting VISI CAD/CAM solution for mold and die manufacturing September 16-18 at the Knox Machinery Open House in Franklin, OH.

Presented by Knox Machinery and GF Machining Solutions, the open house will feature the fast and accurate electronic discharge machining (EDM) equipment, stated to event organizers. Attendees can expect to see the latest in wire, sinker and hole-drilling technologies — as well as technical seminars and demonstrations.

The VISI solution, by Vero Software, will be demonstrated twice daily at the open house for anticipated groups of 20-40 attendees. The detailed demonstrations are expected to run 90 minutes to two hours, and will cover VISI Adaptive Roughing, VISI for 3-axis machining, VISI Electrode and VISI PEPS Wire.

Adaptive Roughing

The VISI Adaptive Roughing strategy utilizes a combination of constant Z-roughing, adaptive roughing, core roughing and rest roughing combined with intelligent ramp, helical and planar entry methods.

Combined with smooth corner radii and smooth transitions between passes, this strategy enables the tool to maintain maximum federate and prevent the cutter from dwelling in corners. For subsequent roughing operations, VISI will remember where remaining stock is left on the component, and machine only those areas.

VISI for 3-Axis

VISI Machining 3D creates intelligent toolpaths on the most complex 3D parts. Dedicated high-speed milling techniques and built-in smoothing algorithms create highly efficient NC code. Intelligent toolpaths reduce cycle times, improve productivity and consistently produce high-quality components.

The benefits of VISI for 3-axis machining include high-speed optimized toolpath; customizable post processors; full tool and holder gouge protection; full kinematic simulation, and more.

VISI PEPS-Wire

Fully feature based, VISI PEPS-Wire provides automatic feature recognition of wire features — including tapered, variable taper and 4-axis features — directly from solid geometry. Features are easily machined, creating reliable wire EDM toolpaths and proven NC code for any machine tool.

The advantages of VISI PEPS-Wire include a comprehensive machine and postprocessor database; reverse cutting on roughing, finishing and tag-removal passes; the ability to easily apply roughing and finishing cuts to multiple punches or dies, and additional productivity-boosting features.

VISI Electrode

VISI Electrode is an automated module for the creation and management of electrodes and holders for the manufacture of detailed and challenging-to-machine features on mold and press tools. Comprehensive holder design, simulation and collision checking ensure that the electrode will operate correctly the first time.

Among the benefits of VISI Electrode are electrode collision checking; linear and tangential surface extension; dynamic surface extraction; and vertical, side and inclined electrode animation.
