DMG MORI Grand Opening in Tampa Will Introduce the Latest ECOLINE Machines

DMG MORI, on September 22nd to September 25th, 2015, will host guests at the Grand Opening of its new Technical Center in Tampa, FL. The DMG MORI Tampa Technical Center Grand Opening will feature the U.S. introduction of the latest ECOLINE machines, live demonstrations of CELOS and six high tech machines. In the field of turning technology, the ecoTurn 450 new design will be demonstrated. In the field of milling, also an ECOLINE machine, the ecoMill 800 V will be demonstrated. Also at DMG MORI's Tampa Grand Opening two additional turning centers and two milling machines will be featured.

"DMG MORI's state-of-the-art new Tampa showroom, with 2,378 sq. ft., allows for DMG MORI to better serve its market in Florida. The Technical Center is dedicated to improving the manufacturing process and maximizing profitability for customers. At the Grand Opening, attendees will be able to learn on-hand how to decrease set-up times and eliminate extra fixturing by the use of 5-axis machining centers and complex turning lathes," said a company spokesperson.

"The U.S. introduction of the latest design of ECOLINE will demonstrate DMG MORI's newest technology for any application. With the combination of productivity, flexibility and user-friendliness, the ECOLINE delivers its promise of proven technology at the best price in its entry-level class," said the spokesperson.

The DMG MORI ECOLINE new design has optimized ergonomics and greater stability. The latest ECOLINE is designed for high quality at the entry-level. More robust and scratch-resistant finishes made from anodized aluminum and powder-coated metal cladding provide greater longevity. DMG MORI has also designed the ECOLINE models to be even more ergonomic with regard to accessibility and optimal machine footprint. The safety windows of the machines can be replaced easily and quickly from the outside.

ecoTurn 450

The new ecoTurn 450 is engineered for precision. The workpiece is machined using the servo turret and modern drive technology with high rapid traverses in all axes. Optional on the ecoTurn 450 are 12 driven tool stations and six BT tool stations. "Its solid construction allows for precise machining even under heavy-duty operations," said the spokesperson. The ecoTurn 450 has a small footprint, but a large work area for workpiece machining. In addition to the new design features of the ecoTurn 450, technical features include the following:

  • Linear guideways in all axes for stable precision machining
  • Hydraulic clamping for high speeds
  • High torque on gearless main spindle for precision turning and milling
  • Automatic traversable tailstock
  • 3D control technology with the 15-inch SLIMline panel (optionally available with the Operate 4.5 platform on a SIEMENS 840D solutionline or with the MAPPS IV platform on a Mitsubishi control)
  • DMG MORI SMARTkey
  • DMG AUTOshutdown (optionally available). Intelligent standby control system to avoid unnecessary energy consumption when idle.

ecoMill 800 V

"The new ecoMill 800 V is designed for high precision in milling and with fine surface finishes. With roller guideways in all axes, a 3-point support and stability is also guaranteed. The powerful main drive delivers superior cutting performance, and the axis drives provide feeds of up to 30 m/min. While precision and stability are provided with the ecoMill 800 V, equally important are efficiency and ergonomic comfort," said the spokesperson. Incorporating a standard 30-station tool magazine, the ecoMill 800 V tool magazine has a double clamping feature for rapid tool change. The structural design is engineered for cleaner and more stable milling. The ecoMill 800 V has an ergonomic control panel. The 3rd generation SLIMline control incorporates a large 15" display with 3D workpiece simulation for easy monitoring on the screen. Modern 3D control technology is optionally available with both Operate 4.5 platform on a SIEMENS 840D solutionline and the MAPPS IV platform on a FANUC control.
