HMC with Dual Y-Axis Ballscrews

YCM USA has announced the NH800B Horizontal Machining Center (HMC) in the USA. The NH800B with a 10,000 RPM 45 kW (60.34 HP) BBT-50 taper built-in motorized spindle that delivers 620 Nm of torque that can handle a variety of cutting conditions. Optional spindles featuring 6,000 or 8,000 RPM 55 kW (73.75 HP with 1,200 Nm high torque spindle) can also be ordered with the machine. The spindle is also provided with micro oil-air lubrication for ceramic bearings that are designed to prolong spindle life.

Features include dual Y-axis ballscrews and servomotors, which can provide enhanced cutting performance, and a chilled circulated oil jacket cooling system that is designed to minimize thermal deformation throughout the entire machine.

Pretensioned precision ballscrews directly coupled to powerful servomotors with absolute positioning encoders are designed to eliminate backlash for high accuracy positioning. A re-circulating cooling system to all three axis motor seats ballscrew nuts and spindle housing insulates the machine from temperature and helps retain optimal accuracy during long periods of operation.

The one piece, Meehanite casting T-base design with heavy rib construction is built for rigidity and high geometrical accuracy. This, along with the stepped X-axis guideway bed design, achieves 1,968 IPM axial rapids and helps ensure increased stability.

The massive headstock is driven at the center of the gravity to minimize vibration, delivering high quality machining at high speeds and horsepower.

The center trough chip evacuation with dual augers with coolant shower and flush system is designed for efficient chip removal and a clean work environment.

The standard two-station "turn style" APC system pallets are clamped and positioned by four tapered flange contact cones. High pressure air jet cleaning is designed to prevent chip contamination, allowing for clamping power and precise positioning. The machine comes with the standard 1-degree rotary table positioning and as an option a 0.001 degree worm screw drive rotary table for full contouring is available.
