CUT E Series Wire EDMs

GF Machining Solutions offers its high-performance AgieCharmilles CUT E 350 and CUT E 600 wire EDMs.

The CUT E Series machines incorporate a range of technologies designed to help manufacturers increase their flexibility and accelerate time to market. Such technologies include a new, large-touchscreen human-machine interface (HMI) that is intuitive in operation and features onboard Intelligent Collision Protection, built-in machining strategies and flexible job management.

The HMI allows users to process geometries, machining operations and command operations within a single file. This means jobs can easily and seamlessly transfer among different machines within the CUT E Series, and they each automatically manage all needed modifications. Additionally, automated measurement cycles are available to assist with workpiece preparation, and the onboard AC CAM Easy allows an operator to prepare a JOB file and post-process it while another job is machining.

With advanced Intelligent Power Generator (IPG) technology, CUT E Series machines are designed to deliver faster cutting speeds, higher precision and enhanced surface quality. The machines can use dedicated wire for reduced overall part costs and increased throughput due to the POWER-EXPERT module that automatically determines optimal power levels to send through the wire, a capability that is especially beneficial in stepped parts. For abrupt changes in cutting direction, the PROFIL EXPERT module automatically adjusts parameters to ensure the machines can maintain sharp angles and small radii, while standard processing programs eliminate process tuning for standard geometries and help manufacturers quickly produce common parts. "All these features combine to reduce cutting times by up to 18% as compared to standard machines," said a company spokesperson.

"With improved ergonomics and enhanced designs, the CUT E Series machines feature compact, space-saving highly rigid structures for accurate cutting of large and heavy parts," added the spokesperson. Drop doors are designed to provide easy, convenient access to machine tables, and side-by-side filters are easily accessible to simplify maintenance.

"Integrated glass scales preserve long-term, repeatable accuracy, require no recalibration and eliminate errors due to backlash and wear found in traditional screw systems with encoder motors," said the spokesperson. Both CUT E machines also feature reliable wire circuit systems for enhanced unrolling that does not disrupt the EDM process.
