American-Made Machining Center and Pallet Pool

GROB Systems will introduce the latest generation of the G-Series machining centers. Featured products include the G350 5-axis machining center and a multi-level rotary pallet system.

Based on a horizontal machining center (HMC) platform, G-Series 5-axis machining centers feature a retractable spindle that is paired with a swivel-rotary table to provide enhanced accessibility to the workpiece, even with long tools. "Many manufacturers find the GROB design allows them to buy a machine with a smaller footprint than other brands, but the same workpiece capacity," said a company spokesperson.

The G350 has a compact footprint of 96.5" x 79" and a pallet size of 400 mm (15.75"). The maximum part size is 600 mm in cylinder x 600 mm in height. All G-Series models feature the GROB-designed and built table with 225° of rotation in the A-axis and continuous 360° in B-axis. It is possible to completely invert the table for upside-down machining while chips simply free-fall away from the part.

The G350 will feature the new GROB4Pilot user interface, which offers the operator a convenient and multi-functional work environment. The entire production process-from the CAD model through to the NC simulation-is now digitally mapped on the GROB4Pilot control system right at the machine. All GROB machines are MTConnect compliant.

In its 10,000 sq. ft. exhibit, GROB will also demonstrate larger 5-axis machining centers and the new G600F, designed for 5-sided machining of frame structure components.

GROB provides a full range of automatic pallet changers, automation systems and expanded tool magazines for high-volume or lights-out production. GROB will show the new rotary pallet storage system (PSS-R), which is available in three sizes to accommodate five to 13 pallets (630 mm x 630 mm pallet size). The system is made in the USA, and can be retrofitted to existing machines.
