Five-Axis Machining Series

"Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc.'s Matsuura MX series offers a variety of configurations and is the solution for 5-axis machining for all applications, all industries and all materials," said a company spokesperson.

The MX Series includes: the MX-330 5-axis vertical machining center (VMC); the MX-520 5-axis VMC; and the MX-850 5-axis VMC.

MX-330

The entry-level MX-330, configured with 10 pallets and 90 tools, provides affordable and reliable unmanned 5-axis production. Suitable for the medical and aerospace industries and other high precision components, the MX-330 offers an easy transition from 3-axis to 5-sided or 5-axis production. It is suitable for small parts but can handle parts up to o13" x 11.8" and weighing up to 177 lbs.

The all new MX-330 delivers machining center versatility with a standard Matsuura-made high accuracy spindle of 15,000 RPM with 48 ft-lbs. of torque. Optional 15,000 RPM with 88 ft-lbs. of torque and 20,000 RPM with 80 ft-lbs. of torque are available.

The MX-330 is compactly built requiring floor space of only 6.1' wide by 10' long and provides high rigidity with a generous machining area and a table loading capacity of 177 lbs.

The machine's maximum work envelope is 330 mm D x 300 mm H, with an optional 420 mm D x 300 mm H. The MX-330 is designed with a RAM type structure, which offers a compact and highly durable machining platform. Available tool magazines include: standard 30-tool drum and optional 60 and 90 tool chains.

The MX-330 comes standard with a FANUC 31iMB with PANEL-I Control. The FANUC31iMB with PANEL-I Control is designed to be user-friendly.

MX-520

Matsuura's MX-520 5-axis VMC provides a simple and cost-effective transition for 3-axis users making the transition to full 5-axis operation. The MX-520 is a compact 5-axis VMC featuring an ergonomic design that allows rapid set-up and processing of complex parts. CAMplete TruePath software, an integrated suite of G-code editing, optimization, analysis and verification tools, is standard.

The Matsuura MX-520 is designed with a RAM type structure, which offers a compact and rigid machining platform. The machine also features a generous machining envelope with enhanced operability. The MX-520 offers an assortment of configurations suitable for a variety of applications, industries and materials.

The headstock and trunnion on the MX-520 have been configured to minimize collision while maximizing tool access and reach. The MX-520 is offered with two table sizes: 11.81" and 19.68" (option). Loading capacity is 440 lbs.

MX-850

The Matsuura MX-850 5-axis VMC was developed in response to market demand for a large capacity, high quality and cost-effective single table Matsuura 5-axis machining platform.

"The MX-850 is compactly built, yet ensures high rigidity and a sufficient machining area and workability," the spokesperson said.

The Matsuura MX-850 VMC offers a variety of configurations and is suitable for various applications, industries and materials.

"In addition to standard spindle of 12,000 RPM, optional spindle of 20,000 RPM for high speed machining or 15,000 RPM for heavy duty machining, the Matsuura MX-850 5-axis VMC offers customers the best in premium machining center versatility," the spokesperson concluded.

MAM72-35V

In addition to unveiling Matsuura's new MAM72 machining center, Matsuura USA will also highlight production flexibility with the MAM72-35V 5-axis VMC with 320 tools. This machine features high-accuracy complex 5-axis machining with one chucking for cost-effective unmanned operation. The MAM72-35V will be exhibited in Matsuura USA Distributor, Yamazen Inc.'s booth.

VX-660 VMC

Matsuura will exhibit the company's latest heavy weight VMC, the VX-660. This cost-effective, heavy-duty manufacturing solution features high-speed, high-precision and high-accuracy within a compact footprint.

H.Plus-400

The planned exhibition of Matsuura's H.Plus-400 machining center with PC12 will demonstrate Matsuura solutions to enhance production, minimize cost and increase part quality. The H.Plus HMCs are highly productive machine tools with high speed, high rigidity and high precision. The H.Plus series delivers long periods of reliable, unmanned operation, high accuracy and exceptionally efficient production.

LF-160

Matsuura will pair the LF-160 linear motor machine with a robotic system to showcase the machine's high-speed, high-precision and high-accuracy. The Matsuura LF-160 was developed for ultra-precision machining dies, molds and optical parts with a focus on small workpiece processing and unmanned operation. The LF-160's spindle with minimized dynamic runout and high resolution achieves high-speed and high-precision.

LUMEX Avance-25

Matsuura will also exhibit, for the first time, its hybrid additive manufacturing (AM) machine, the Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25. The Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 metal laser sintering hybrid milling machine is a powder bed metal AM platform with subtractive machining capability. The Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 combines selective laser sintering (SLS) along with high speed milling (HSM) commonly called hybrid AM.

The Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 relies on one-machine, one-process manufacturing of complex molds and parts by fusing metal laser sintering (3-D SLS) technology with high speed milling technology. The hybrid technology creates a finished part with machined surface finish and accuracy, without inducing the additional variation caused by multiple machine set-ups and part handling.

The machine enables production of complicated parts and molds through total manufacturing by digital engineering, using 3-D data. "The Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 achieves the highest accuracy in part fabrication since metal powders are melted and sintered via laser, while surfaces are precisely milled at high speeds. 3-D cooling channels can be incorporated into molds in the single setup, thereby increasing cooling efficiency and enabling high-cycle injection molding with better than ever quality and precision, reducing costs and improving efficiency," the spokesperson added.
