Joe Gibbs Racing Team Extends Technology Partnership with Mahr Inc.

Mahr Inc. has announced a three-year extension of the company's long-standing technology partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). "Over the last 16 years, the organizations have collaborated to deliver the most precise and reliable parts to power one of today's most successful racings teams with four NASCAR Cup Series championships, five NASCAR XFINITY Series championships and more than 270 wins across NASCAR's top two national racing series in its 27-year history," said a company spokesperson. The organization also is home to the JGRMX motocross/supercross team, the second largest type of racing in the U.S.

JGR's 400,000-sq. ft. race shop handles the manufacturing of 90% of the racecar and motorcycle parts and pieces with almost 2,000 different parts and pieces. The JGR team leverages Mahr's precision measurement tools to make sure all parts and pieces are being manufactured properly. Whether manufactured on-site or purchased from an outside party, all parts go directly to the metrology department for 100% inspection before being assembled.

"Mahr has been a great partner for more than 16 years and helps JGR to ensure that the highest quality parts are going into our cars and motorcycles with optimal performance," said Mark Bringle, technical sponsorship and Marketing Director at Joe Gibbs Racing. "We are excited to continue to work with the top-notch people at Mahr who are true partners to our engineering team in assuring the safety of our racecars and motorcycles during the production process."

JGR's state-of-the-art metrology lab features Mahr hand tools like micrometers and calipers at all 35 stations. Precision measurement tools including the MarForm MMQ 400 Universal Form Measuring Machines are used to check valves and the MarForm Primar is deployed to evaluate cranks and cams. JGR engineers also utilize MarShaft SCOPE 250 plus optical shaft measuring machines, MarSurf XR20 systems for the evaluation of roughness and MarSurf XC20 systems for evaluation of contour profiles on a variety of parts. Mahr equipment is also instrumental in evaluating critical but hard-to-reach areas in the engine.

"Mahr's metrology know-how, engineering talent and time and the quality of the company's product have been integral in the performance of pit stops, as parts on pit row have to be precise, faster stronger and lighter. The innovative custom designs developed by JGR are inspected and validated by Mahr tools," said the spokesperson.
