Murata Machinery recently introduced the MW120II turning center, a
new version of the MW120 machine with faster automation.
The MW120II features a high-speed, lightweight gantry loader that offers increased rapid traverse speeds in the X, Y and Z axes. "With this newly designed high-speed gantry loader, traverse speeds 1.5 times those of the traditional gantry loader can be achieved," said a Murata spokesperson.
"In addition to the new high-speed gantry loader, the MW120II features improvements to machine idle time areas as compared to the traditional machine," added the spokesperson. "Overall idle time reductions related to turret clamp/unclamp, chuck clamp/unclamp and higher speed shutter doors have resulted in load/unload time reductions of more than three seconds per part."
"The flexible automation allows for multiple machines to be combined into
a single production cell, utilizing common transfer, turnaround and feeding units to service the machines and provide an efficient production solution," concluded the spokesperson.
