Axeman-Anderson Company Celebrates 75 Years

Axeman-Anderson Company was organized in 1944 and up until 1948 concentrated its efforts exclusively on research and development of heating equipment, in particular a unit for the automatic burning of anthracite coal which became known as the "Anthratube." Production on the Anthratube was started in 1948 and is still continuing. "The Anthracite Coal Units built today are not much different than the ones we made 75 years ago," said a company spokesperson. "The Anthratube is recognized in the anthracite burning area of both the U.S. and Europe as one of the most revolutionary units ever developed for its particular service."

"In the interest of widening its market beyond the anthracite burning area, the company started a research and development program many years ago on heating units for other fuels and obtained patents on a very efficient unit for burning fuel oil, and have been in production on this unit for over 50 years," added the spokesperson. In addition, the company manufactures units for mobile homes, highway paint trucks, waste oil boilers as well as specialty units.

The company also has available units for burning gas and is continuing its research work to improve and develop new products for all types of fuels.

The company was started by James E. Axeman and William S. Anderson (both) deceased. The present officers of the company are: Peter H. Axeman President and Treasurer; Peter H. Axeman Jr. Vice President and General Manager; Richard S. Thomas and Amber J. Axeman Secretary.
