TJ Davies Celebrates Six Decades of Manufacturing in Ohio
December 31, 2025

(l-r): U.S. Representative David Joyce (OH) and TJ Davies President Sherry Davies

T.J. Davies Co. Inc., an industrial manufacturer of retention knobs, recently hosted U.S. House Representative David Joyce (Ohio) for a plant tour as part of the company’s 60th anniversary celebration. Joyce and key members of his staff spent several hours learning how retention knobs are made – starting from American made 8620 alloy steel, then machined in-house including single point threading. In addition to explaining the manufacturing process in detail, Davies’ employees also showed Joyce and his team the quality control checks that each component must undergo before moving on to the next step in the manufacturing process. Afterwards, Joyce presented TJ Davies President Sherry Davies with a certificate commemorating the company’s six decades in business.
“We were thrilled to host Congressman Joyce and his staff for a tour of our manufacturing plant,” Davies said. “He demonstrated a sincere interest in all our employees and products. We are honored to receive a proclamation celebrating our 60 years of manufacturing in Ohio.”
TJ Davies is a second generation, family-run manufacturer heading into their seventh decade, continuing to invest in new technology and expand product lines. Some of those new products include coolant tubes, wrenches and zero-point retention knobs.
In addition to offering the industry’s widest range of retention knobs, the company manufactures custom machine components, typically for older machines where parts are hard to obtain or are no longer available.
The company continues to strive toward the goals of their founder – to provide best-in-class, American-made products and back them with superior customer service – including same day delivery if ordered by 3 PM, according to Davies.
“We’re proud of our heritage and strive each day to attain dad’s original goal of earning every customer’s trust with each order they place,” Davies said. “Closely working with every customer allows us to better understand their issues and how we can help them. Those discussions have led us to continue our investment in equipment and technology and in the development of new product lines – all 100% American-made and backed with exceptional customer service.”
Over the past year the company has purchased several new CNC lathes for standard and custom machine components and updated some of their testing equipment. A new Starrett optical comparator allows them to reverse-engineer custom components.
“This is an investment in the future and a testament to our belief in American manufacturing,” Davies stated. “We continually strive to get better, and the Mazak will help us to achieve that. We’re able to machine components from raw bar stock to ready-for-heat treat status around a common axis. That means better concentricity and precision which helps our customers make their products better.”
In addition to striving to make the manufacturing community better, Davies and her team are active members of their local community as well. They hosted their first ever Toys for Tots toy drive last year and are already planning how to collect even more toys this season. They also helped aspiring engineers get a firsthand look at engineering when they sponsored the Emerging Engineers summer camp through Kent State University College of Aeronautics and Engineering last summer.
“It is a real pleasure to support our local community, as well as our manufacturing community,” Davies said. “We had a great time greeting old customers and meeting new ones at PMTS and are already planning for our 2026 IMTS presence. The future is bright, and I’m sure dad would be proud that his core mission still drives us today.”
