Fiber Laser System Expands Capacity in Aerospace, Power Generation Industries

Prima Power Laserdyne has announced that Jean Gallay SA, Geneva, Switzerland, has ordered a LASERDYNE 795XL BeamDirector system equipped with a fiber laser.

"By choosing the LASERDYNE 795XL system with the fiber laser, Jean Gallay is making a breakthrough in laser processing," said Madam Laurence de la Serna, CEO. "The investment was the most important capital investment in 2011 for Jean Gallay. It demonstrates the will of our company to grow, especially in the aerospace market, which is forecasted to have strong growth in Europe for several years, despite the recent downturn in commerce in the European countries."

The company will use the LASERDYNE 795XL equipped with a 2 kW fiber laser for 2D and 3D processing of heat resistant alloys (nickel and cobalt), stainless steel alloys, titanium and titanium alloys. Typical parts include combustion chambers, diffusers, burners for gas turbines and more.

A LASERDYNE 795XL system is capable of controlling seven axes of motion with a 2 m x 1 m x 1 m (80" x 40" x 40") work envelope that can include two high-accuracy rotary tables and LASERDYNE's latest controller, the S94P. The S94P control, a CNC control designed exclusively for precision multi-axis laser processing systems, is the basis for a variety of hardware and software features designed for improved productivity, process control and higher quality laser-processed parts.

The LASERDYNE 795XL system features the third generation BeamDirector, the BeamDirector 3. The system is designed to provide improved access to parts for cutting (3D and 2D), drilling and welding.
