HGG to Showcase Profiling Innovations at FABTECH 2025

HGG Profiling Equipment will showcase its newly introduced All Profile Cutter robotic plasma coping machine—the first of its kind capable of cutting both pipes (CHS) and box sections (SHS/RHS) in one operation—and the ProCutter 600 oxyfuel, as well as the plasma 3D profile cutting machine in Booth A5460 at FABTECH 2025, September 8-11, 2025, at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL.

The new All Profile Cutter is HGG’s revolutionary advancement in robotic plasma coping, the company reported. "While plasma coping has transitioned from a groundbreaking innovation to the industry standard in structural steel fabrication, the APC redefines this standard with unmatched automation, precision, productivity, versatility and user-friendliness," said a company spokesperson.

HGG’s patented system features a 360-degree rotating robot and versatile gripper. Operating seamlessly together, they provide an unlimited robotic workspace and enable dynamic, precise cutting with minimal dependency on the operator.

The HGG ProCutter 600-900 plasma cutting series specializes in cutting cylindrical pipes ranging from 2” to 24” and 36” OD. "The technology excels in situations where time cannot be wasted on fitting and adjusting cut pipes, especially when tight tolerances play a key role in production," the spokesperson said. "By cutting pipes accurately and precisely the first time around, the PC 600 allows fitters and welders to focus on fit-up and welding, rather than laying out, cutting and fixing mistakes. Both the PC 600 and its sister machine, the PC 900 come with plasma cutting, marking and a specialized CAD/CAM interface. Users can select pipe trolleys, a rollerball gutter or a combination of both with each setup offering its own benefits for easy material transport." For example, pipe trolleys equipped with polyurethane-coated wheels eliminate the impact caused by bow-shaped pipes for more precise and consistent operations. The rollerball gutter setup provides fast and accurate handling for more efficient workflow.

Available with both oxyfuel and plasma cutting capabilities, the PC 600 and 900 machines cut chamfers, saddles and holes so that pipes for structural and piping applications are well-prepared for fitting and welding operations. And, because every pipe has some degree of distortion in its length and/or roundness, the profile’s centerline is the only fixed reference point for this machine which features a self-centering three-jaw chuck that manually clamps the pipe securely, avoiding slip during rotation and creep for maximum accuracy.

"Accuracy is further ensured with ProCAM software, the only suite designed specifically for HGG machines, developed in-house over the course of 40 years by applications experts and users," the spokesperson said. "It gives users full control over all CAD and CAM aspects of a part. For more complex pieces, the software pairs seamlessly with systems like SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD, which can lend to their more expansive design capabilities." The software itself is designed to shave programming time. A predefined library of macro shapes allows users to quickly find and select general geometries to apply or to import 3D STEP files. For like parts, similar preprogrammed cuts can be applied from a template. The final 3D rendered model shows exactly what the finished part will look like.

HGG machines are equipped with fume extraction systems, designed to extract fumes via suction through the pipe and main drive. The extracted fumes are then separated using a passive cyclone inside the main drive.

HGG experts will be on-hand to discuss the PC 600 and all profile cutting machine technologies, and how they can easily fit into virtually any 3D Profile cutting operation to save considerable fitting and welding time.
