Annual Golf Tournament Supports College of Technology Scholarship

Mid Atlantic Machinery hosted a golf outing for the Future Fabricators Fundraiser.

In supporting the education of future fabricators across the Central Pennsylvania region, Mid Atlantic Machinery hosted its 2nd Annual Golf Classic and raised over $45,000 for the Metal Fabrication and Welding Technology Program at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Metal Fabrication companies from New York to Delaware joined Mid Atlantic on the greens at the Hershey Country Club to raise a total of $46,505 to help "meet the higher education needs of low income, historically under-represented students, resulting in immediate employment at a sustaining wage, supporting the growth and strength of business and industry across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," as outlined in the Thaddeus Stevens mission statement.

"It was great to be a part of something that carries so much meaning," said Christopher Unruh, Instructor at Thaddeus Stevens. "The Metals Fabrication and Welding Technology program is extraordinarily grateful for the effort put forth by Mid Atlantic Machinery and its customers who donated to such an important cause. The funds raised will be used to better the lives of future TSCT students and the metals fabrication industry for years to come."

The event was sponsored by TRUMPF, and other industry leading brands like ALLtra, Bend-Tech, Big Steel Rack, Cidan, COE and Kinetic were among the top donors. Companies such as Viocity, MH Eby, Miller Fabricating Solutions and Precision Cut Industries were represented by the 63 golfers and 80 luncheon attendees. Participants representing the companies contributed significantly to the scholarship fund.

"In today's tight labor market, we all have to get involved to solve the talent crisis in the trades, not just complain about it," explained Kevin Kilgallen, President, Mid Atlantic Machinery. "Metal fabrication companies in the Mid-Atlantic states helped raise almost $50,000 in metal fabrication scholarships. We are beginning to tackle the problem head on."
