Flexible and Precise Surface and Profile Grinding

For grinding complex shapes in a wide variety of demanding materials, including turbine blades and vanes, pump rotors, rocker arms, wood chipper blades and more, the BLOHM PLANOMAT XT machine series from UNITED GRINDING North America offers efficient surface and profile grinding operations.

Available in five sizes with grinding ranges from 400 mm x 800 mm (15.7" x 31.5") to 600 mm x 2,000 mm (23.6" x 78.7"), these modular machines offer the flexibility and precision for applications from single parts to complex workpieces, with maximum workpiece weights of 800 kg (1,672 lbs.).

With an available 24.5 kW (32 HP) spindle, the PLANOMAT XT features an optional eight-pocket tool changer, precision linear guideways and high-quality recirculating ballscrews for precision operation. A long list of accessories, along with special part-clamping and handling systems, adapts these machines quickly to specific requirements. "The PLANOMAT XT delivers repeatable, reliable performance in a wide range of surface and profile grinding applications, ranging from creep feed to multipart production in a single set-up," said a company spokesperson.

The BLOHM PLANOMAT XT accepts grinding wheels up to 400 mm (15.75") in diameter by 160 mm (6.3") in width. For optimal dressing, the table mounted dressing device handles diamond profile rolls up to 200 mm (7.87"). The articulating dressing attachment enables continuous-path dressing control using the machine's axes and CNC operation of the dresser's articulating axis.

Customer Oriented REvolution (C.O.R.E.), the latest innovation from UNITED GRINDING's R&D team, was unveiled for the first time at EMO 2021. The operating system is coming to IMTS for the first time on several machines in the UNITED GRINDING booth, including the BLOHM PLANOMAT XT. With this technology, the new machine control and operator interface help simplify and streamline machine operation and maximize machine connectivity.
