Mazak Southwest to Host Event for Job Shops and Energy Manufacturers

Mazak will host a DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK event at its Southwest Technology Center in Houston, TX, on Dec. 3 and 4 from 10 AM to 6 PM. The company will showcase highly productive metalworking strategies relevant to job shops and the energy industry on the latest milling, turning and multitasking machines. Technical seminars on gauging systems, door prizes and a Texas BBQ lunch will also be part of the two-day event.

"With reshoring on the rise and unskilled labor still an issue, job shops must be responsive to change and invest in innovation to remain competitive. At the event, Mazak will demonstrate how shops can affordably improve productivity and profitability via the VERTICAL CENTER UNIVERSAL 400A 5X, VERTICAL CENTER UNIVERSAL 500A with a two-pallet changer, QUICK TURN SMART 350 and QUICK TURN SMART 350M," said a company spokesperson.

"As workpiece materials for the energy industry become more challenging to process, manufacturers require heavy-duty machines with higher power, rigidity and versatility than ever before. During the event, Mazak, which has one of the broadest selections of machine tools for the energy industry, will spotlight its new QUICK TURN NEXUS 550 MY for long, large part production, along with several other models," said the spokesperson.

The QUICK TURN NEXUS 550 MY big-bore multitasking turning center features a strong, stable gear-driven spindle/motor headstock that provides rigidity and torque to heavy metal removal applications. An upper turret with live tooling capabilities allows the machine to run secondary operations including milling and drilling, while its Y-axis functionality makes it possible to perform keyway finishing, off-centerline O.D. drilling and more.

Other machines at the event will include the QUICK TURN NEXUS 450 MY with a long boring bar tailstock, ORBITEC 20, HORIZONTAL CENTER NEXUS 6800, VERTICAL CENTER NEXUS 530C-II, INTEGREX i-200S and VARIAXIS i-800.

Renishaw, a Mazak Value Inspired Partner (VIP) since 2010, will host technical seminars on how gauging systems can increase workpiece accuracy. Renishaw representatives will be available to discuss how its new Equator gauging system increases throughput and reduces scrap rates.

The Mazak Southwest Technology Center is located at 10950 Greenbend Blvd. in Houston, Texas, which is part of the Greenspoint District, a community 15 miles north of downtown Houston and minutes from the Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Registration for the DISCOVER MORE WITH MAZAK event at the Southwest Technology Center is open at www.mazakusa.com/news-events/upcoming-events/discover-more-with-mazak-southwest-technology-event/.
