DMG MORI Opens Boston Technology Center

DMG MORI Boston showroom machines include the NTX 1000, NHX 4000, DMU 60 eVo linear and DMP 70.

DMG MORI's new Technology Center in the heart of Somerville, MA, will be a hub for research and development of new digitization solutions and processes for customers worldwide. Right next door and separated only by a roll-up door, TULIP has its headquarters. Its no-code platform for creating apps has been an important part of DMG MORI's product portfolio since 2019.

"The growing economic development in the northeast USA makes Boston an ideal location for another DMG MORI subsidiary," said Dr. Keiichi Ota, President of DMG MORI USA. "Medical, aerospace and other high technology-driven companies are increasingly growing or locating in the region. From the tradition-rich Assembly Square-named after the Ford Assembly Plant that once stood on this site-DMG MORI will sustainably strengthen its proximity to customers in the future."

Ota continued, "The proximity to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wentworth College and other technical universities will also help us to further advance our focus topics of automation and digitization. Similar to the innovation centers in Chicago, IL, and Davis, CA, this will make DMG MORI Boston an important place for research and development in these fields. In particular, digitization will be of major significance looking at the proximity to TULIP. This close collaboration will help us to digitize processes in a hands-on way."

With TULIP's no-code platform, companies can empower those closest to operations to digitally transform their operations and gain real-time visibility into the people, tools, machines and processes involved-all in a matter of days. Companies of all sizes across various industries have implemented TULIP's intuitive platform to solve some of the most pressing challenges in operations, according to the company.

At DMG MORI Boston, 10 application engineers are designing innovative manufacturing solutions before they go into operation at customer sites. Smooth processes are ensured by 24 service technicians and a team that provides rapid assistance on the hotline. The installed machinery and simulators will also be used by DMG MORI Boston for training courses for employees and customers.

To remain competitive and push further innovative technologies, DMG MORI Boston will hire young professionals with knowledge in future-oriented topics like digitization, artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing.
