Kitamura Machinery has expanded on its small footprint horizontal machining center (HMC) lineup with the Mycenter-HX300iG/400. "Manufactured in Japan with premium grade castings that are meticulously hand-scraped and assembled to assure final fit and finish unmatched in the industry, the HX300iG/400 offers customers heavy duty cutting performance, enhanced accuracy and long-term reliability in horizontal machining applications, while providing a large work envelope within an 8 feet x 12 feet footprint," said a company spokesperson.
"The Mycenter-HX300iG/400 offers a large work envelope for a machine of its size: X-axis=460 mm (18.1 inches), Y-axis=510 mm and Z-axis 560 mm (22 inches) with a maximum workpiece diameter of O500 mm (O19.7 inches), maximum workpiece height of 745 mm (29.3 inches) give the user the size and performance comparable to 400 mm HMCs offered by the competition," said the spokesperson. A newly available 400 mm table option offers additional workholding possibilities. An additional 5th axis can be added to both pallets in the field for greater flexibility and less handling of more complex parts.
"A 30 HP, 15,000 RPM, #40 taper, direct drive, dual contact spindle has the ability and rigidity to handle a variety of exotic materials and offers best in class speed and performance," said the spokesperson. A 20,000 RPM high speed, dual contact spindle is an available option.
The HX300iG/400 is automation ready and field expandable up to an 8-station pallet pool for unmanned operation potential. FMS connectivity is an available option. The standard fully integrated 4th axis rotary table with integral drive motor enables high speed rapids of 150 RPM (54,000 deg/min), reducing cut time, eliminating backlash and providing positioning accuracy of ±2 arc sec.
A field expandable 50-tool fixed pot ATC (assures tools are always returned to the same pot and the next tool to be used is kept in a "stand-by" pot) allows for the addition of up to 200 tools as needs change. A 1.3 sec. tool to tool change contributes to the reduction in overall cycle time.
"Ultra-high precision means enhanced positioning accuracy of ±0.002 mm (±0.000079")/full stroke with 67 million pulse encoder technology, delivering 67 times finer resolution and 67 times better finish accuracy. High rapid/cutting feeds of 60 m/min (2,362 IPM), ball screw cooling and fine resolution (10 nanometer) optical linear scale feedback in X, Y, Z linear axes are all standard features, making this space-saving, mid-size HMC the go-to for a wide variety of metalcutting requirements," said the spokesperson.
Kitamura's interactive touchscreen icon driven Arumatik-Mi control offers user friendly, unique features, such as on demand "HELP" guidance, visual work setting, maintenance support functions, Anywhere-Remote E-mail status update technology and a 19" swivel color LCD to easily guide the user in a completely customizable and expandable control environment with software upgrades available throughout the life of the control.
