Twin-Spindle Single-Turret Multitasking Lathe

The GANESH CYCLONE 78-MSY is a 6-axis twin-spindle single-turret multitasking lathe designed to get complex work done efficiently in one seamless operation. The machine features a full 3" bar capacity beltless 30 HP 4,000 RPM Mitsubishi main spindle and an integral Mitsubishi 20 HP 4,000 RPM sub-spindle. The machine features a 30" turning length for ample tool clearance. Chucks up to 10" diameter can be mounted on the A2-6 spindles.

According to the company, the 16-station radial mount BMT-65 high-speed servo turret indexes in 0.2 seconds and features 7.5 HP milling on all 16 tool stations. Since both axial and radial tools can be mounted to the machine on the main and sub-spindle from each tool station, the tool count can be over 30 tools. The linear Y-axis features 4" of travel and adds to the machining capability as well as to the available tool count by using dual toolholders. The turret is rated for high-pressure coolant up to 1,000 PSI.

There is a fully synchronized C-axis on both spindles with 360,000 radial positions for accurate contouring capability with a resolution of 0.001°.

According to the company, the oversized 70 gallon coolant tank is designed to provide additional thermal stability for accurate work repeatability. A coolant pump is provided for the tool turret and another coolant pump is provided for chip flushing. The machine features cross-roller ways designed to provide twice the rigidity that ball ways provide.

"The Mitsubishi M720 full featured CNC control has been optimized to take advantage of the rigid machine structure which results in very efficient machining of complex parts made of exotic aerospace alloys. The 64-bit RISC-CPU runs at 135,000 blocks per minute with a 680-block look-ahead to provide superior shape definition and superior surface finishes. Ethernet RJ-45, USB and RS-232 communications interfaces are provided for easy program transfer," said a company spokesperson.
