Automated FORM 20 EDM Maximizes Operations

The efficient FORM 20 die sinking EDM with optional System 3R WorkPartner 1+ robot is designed for manufacturers needing to maximize their die-sinking EDM operations while minimizing their environmental footprint.

When paired with the FORM 20, the WorkPartner 1+ provides automatic electrode and parts loading and unloading. Palletization options can accommodate up to 20 pallets to allow for unmanned production and maximize lights-out operations.

"To provide enhanced performance, the FORM 20 uses GF Machining Solutions' proprietary Intelligent Power Generator (IPG) technology that gives the FORM 20 the lowest energy consumption levels - just 3.7 kW/h at full power - of all EDM machines on the market today," said a company spokesperson.

"The FORM 20's IPG features built-in quality-boosting, cost-saving intelligence," continued the spokesperson. "With every machine pulse, the 70 amp generator continuously optimizes the EDM process and reduces electrode wear as well as provides extremely uniform surface finishes. The machine generates surface finishes of Ra 0.1 micron and radii down to 0.0007 inch."

In addition to its unique power generator, the FORM 20 sports the company's AC Form human machine interface (HMI). This CNC provides a user friendly, easy to learn and flexible control specifically developed for die sinking EDM operations. "Combined with full spark generator technology that represents the culmination of 60 years of EDM experience, the AC Form HMI allows operators of all experience levels to achieve maximum results," said the spokesperson.

The compact FORM 20 provides ample axis travels of 13.78" x 9.84" x 9.84". Within its space-saving footprint, the machine includes an integrated linear tool changer with up to 200 electrode changing options. It also incorporates a rigid and compact mechanical structure for reliable, stable operation.
