Intelligent Human Machine Interface Control

FANUC America Corporation brought a new look and feel to CNC operations with the introduction of the FANUC iHMI, or intelligent Human Machine Interface, that provides an efficient and intuitive way to interact with the FANUC Series 30i/31i/32i-MODEL B CNCs. The iHMI features a flat-panel touchscreen display and a highly graphical, straightforward navigation. It also incorporates a suite of new tools and features designed to increase ease-of-use, improve operational efficiency and bring more control to the shop floor.

The Cycle Time Estimation function can quickly process programs created in CAD/CAM software and provide an estimated cycle time that is accurate to within 5%. Accurate estimates help operators with better planning and lead to greater overall efficiency across the entire facility.

The SERVO Viewer lets the operator monitor key machine tool operations data in waveform display without the need for an external PC. With the SERVO Viewer operators can monitor servo performance, spindle performance, CNC data and PMC signal. This information helps operators make adjustments to optimize the cutting conditions and machining programs to reduce cycle times.

The Maintenance Manager proactively monitors control components, such as servo amps and CNC fans and identifies performance issues that may signal potential issues before they occur. In the iHMI, the operator has access to the manual to guide them through any repair or replacement procedure that may be necessary.

Other functions on the iHMI include a Data Management tool for logging operational data for use in other iHMI applications and sharing via MT LINK i; the Tool Manager for maintaining data on tool usage and life expectancy; an intuitive and simplified CNC operation screen; conversational programming; machining simulation; and more.
