Rack and Pinion Reducers with Stiff Housing Design

Andantex USA Inc. has introduced two new sizes of the KRPX family of rack and pinion dedicated planetary gearboxes. KRPX reducers are suitable when zero-backlash and high-stiffness linear axis drives are required.

"An integral output pinion combined with a robust bolt on housing makes for easy installation and maximum compound stiffness," said a company spokesperson. "Otherwise known as the machine frame extension, the KRPX reducers offer zero-backlash electrical preload (TwinDRIVE) on demanding machine tool applications. The ultra-stiff housing design combined with an easy bolted connection and integral output pinion ensure high compound stiffness of any rack and pinion drive system on the market today. Two units are combined together on one rack to eliminate system backlash and provide precise positioning and movement while machining parts."

The KRPX1 is smaller than the existing range, and the KRPX 5 is larger, providing a complete range with five sizes, ratios from 5:1 to 91:1 and tangential force capacity from 9,000 N (2,100 lbs.) to 155,000 N (35,000 lbs.). All sizes are available in in-line and right-angle versions. KRPX is suitable for gantry and column machine axis drives.
