Heavy-Duty Wire EDM

The AccuteX AX-8060 EDM is a heavy-duty wire machine that weighs 14,300 lbs. and can handle a work piece of more than half its weight or 8,815 lbs. The machine is equipped with a fully automatic, annealing wire threading system (AWT) with tip disposal unit. "AccuteX's intelligent servo-control wire-threading technology, together with multi-detectors makes it the world's fastest and most reliable (threading at wire break point) automatic wire threading system on the market," said a company spokesperson.

The SD Master (stable discharge) is a standard accessory that powers the servo system reducing wire breakage during production. Stabilizing the discharge at ultra high frequency raises machining repeatability to produce accurate and consistent parts. The dual digital AC power supply driven by SD Master achieves the fast cutting speeds.

Remote Master enables a host of productivity features making flexible, efficient utilization. Remote monitoring from office or home, CAD/CAM integration, program editing and job scheduling are all possible with this powerful feature.

"The Windows CE based CNC system's powerful 64 bit CPU is a high speed, stable, industrial-grade computer, featuring a powerful user friendly software interface and 15" touch screen. This control's conversational cutting condition selection, on board operation manuals and help menus, along with a long list of productivity functions and features, makes new users effective and experienced operators capable of performing any application easily and accurately," said the spokesperson.

Other standard features include machine travels of (X) 31.5" by (Y) 23.6" by (Z) 23.6" by (U&V) 5.9". Rapid traverse rates are as high as 51.1" per minute with simultaneous wire feedrates of 0-590" per minute using electrode wire diameter ranging from 0.008" - 0.014". The machine body was designed by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) meaning that the Meehanite cast is a honey-combed base, highly ribbed column mounted on an oversized UVZ axis and reinforced lower-arm to increase stiffness. All castings are stabilized and subjected to rigid testing to insure maximum strength and precision.
