Fermat Acquires Lucas Precision

(l-r) Paul Mandelbaum and Jiri Ferenc

Fermat Group, producer of horizontal boring mills from the Czech Republic, has announced the acquisition of Lucas Precision (Cleveland, OH), Fermat's importer and service organization in the U.S. market. In addition, the Fermat Group has announced a name change of the incorporated company to Lucas, A Fermat Group Company, together with publication of a new logo.

Paul Mandelbaum, former Co-owner of Lucas Precision, stays with Fermat as CEO of Fermat's division in the USA.

"This is an exciting time for Lucas Precision to become part of the Fermat Group," said a spokesperson. "Lucas has had a very long history of supplying horizontal boring mills to virtually every industry. Although Lucas stopped the production of new machines several years ago, the company has continued to thrive with a strong tradition of servicing, rebuilding, retrofitting and supplying parts to keep existing products cutting chips. With the resurgence of manufacturing in the United States, Lucas is perfectly positioned to become part of the Fermat Group and to once again supply new machine tools throughout the country."

Jiri Ferenc, an owner of Fermat Group, said, "Lucas first became associated with Fermat in 2010 and quickly became the exclusive importer of Fermat products in the United States. Purchase of Lucas will allow Fermat to focus on the U.S. market, develop a dealers' network and provide complementary services in training or technology in order to satisfy customers' needs for precise and effective machining."

Lucas, A Fermat Group Company, will remain at the same location in Cleveland, OH.
