Hardinge Grinding Group Opens Technical Center in Elgin, IL



Hardinge Inc. has announced the addition of the Hardinge Grinding Group Technical Center of excellence in Elgin, IL. "The Chicago area location can be easily accessed by many of our customers and potential customers in the Midwest," said Rick Simons, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. "All of the Hardinge Grinding Group brands are now together at one location: Kellenberger, Jones & Shipman, Hauser, Tschudin and Usach."

This area location will serve as the main center of excellence with capabilities for the complete grinding product lines. The technical center features:

  • Demonstration area
  • Application engineering support, process qualification and machine runoff services
  • Development of turnkey systems
  • Design and integration of automation systems
  • Development and assembly of Usach universal and production I.D. and O.D. cylindrical precision grinding machines
  • Re-controlling of CNC cylindrical grinding machines
  • Sales, service and repair part support.

The grinding location currently in Elmira, NY, will continue to operate as the Northeast Regional Grinding Technical Center.

The management of all the brands in the Hardinge Grinding Group for North America will be under the leadership of Daniel Rey. Rey joined Usach Technologies, Inc. in June of 2013. He has 25 years of professional experience in the machine tool industry with particular expertise in grinding machines and applications.

"This change will allow the Hardinge Grinding Group to utilize the synergies, processes, skills and the many years of industry knowledge available within our group to better service and support our customers. A much larger group of people are now dedicated solely to the specific needs of our grinding customers under this dedicated management," said Simons.
