Greenerd Press & Machine Co. designs and builds custom hydraulic presses with automation solutions for a range of industries and applications. One example that demonstrates these capabilities is a complex multistation press system with varying tonnage capabilities via three rams.
Greenerd designed, engineered, and built this automated press system, which manufactures aluminum electrical splices at a rate of 60 parts per minute. The system feeds a coil of aluminum through a straightening and shearing process controlling the weight of slugs that are fed up an inclined custom, Greenerd-designed conveyor and diverter, separating the slugs into lanes for increased throughput. In total, the system performs multiple operations from straightening and shearing to dimpling, hole formation, chamfering, and grooving via a custom servo-driven shuttle system.
