Productivity Enhancement Technology

Shop Floor Automations (SFA) will present and demonstrate Predator DNC Enterprise software, which is designed to help decision makers achieve best practices in manufacturing planning, as well Scytec cloud-based machine monitoring software, which is designed to help improve efficiency.

A newly released version of Predator DNC Enterprise Software will feature the latest technology used to control and manage network based CNCs. "While many manufacturing shop floors currently connect the CNCs using serial cables, SFA is eliminating these cables by an exclusive 802.11 B/G wireless CNC adapter to allow fast communication, reliability and standardizing on a single device to communicate to machine tools with RJ45 network connectors and DB25 serial ports," said a company spokesperson. "Users will see a demonstration on how the software can close the communication loop to reduce errors and improve overall efficiency in the factory."

Scytec Data Xchange has been updated to include machine monitoring and data collection from various machine tool builders using MT Connect, FANUC Focas and older CNCs with only serial connections. Hardware devices are now available to collect data in real time using a static relay controller (SRC) in real time to see machine utilization, down time reasons and trends across the web enabled devices, such as a laptops, smart phones, iPhones, iPads and Android tablets. The latest version now includes support for customized views and a rolling dashboard of favorite views based on user login.

"SFA continues to enhance the longevity of the machine tool by replacing the typical 3.5 inch disk drive with the latest USB port," said the spokesperson. "The USB to Floppy Emulator now enables the user to transfer programs to a USB thumb drive from any PC and load the NC program on the CNC without retrofitting the controller. The hardware device has been upgraded to support over 25 different makes and models of CNC controllers.

"USB Connect, SFA's latest solution to add a memory stick to the CNC control, is changing how many users view USB on the shop floor. The device comes in two models: a pendant mounted unit that is attached to the control and connects through the serial connection; and a portable unit, which can be used across a wide variety of machines as a primary or backup NC program manager. One of the primary benefits of USB Connect is the ability to handle larger file sizes - up to 16 GB."
