Gantry Type High-Speed Machining Centers

V-Tec by Vision Wide's newest addition to its line of high-performance machines is the GSF/GSA Series two gantry-type high-speed universal machining centers with head attachments. Both the GSF and GSA series machines provide simultaneous 5-axis accuracy and performance, and have applications in highly precise contour finishing, milling, drilling, tapping and mold cutting. "These were specifically designed by Vision Wide to shorten tool travel, extend tool lifetime and offer the best choice for composite angle machining," said a spokesperson.

Highly accurate 2-axis synchronous head attachments are what make the GSF machine stand out, according to the company. Vision Wide offers four different attachments, ranging from single to double sided HST810 spindles with various speeds and rotation torques, allowing the customer to build their ideal machine. Spindle speeds range between 12,000 RPM and 24,000 RPM, but all feature a 30 RPM rotation speed and 8" positioning accuracy. The spindle head attachment controls the B and C axes with a B-axis rotating range of +/-110° and a C-axis range of +/-270°. Maximum rotation torques range from 354 ft-lbs. to 1,042 ft-lbs.

The GSA Series offers three different types of IAC indexing attachment heads, varying from 15,000 RPM to 24,000 RPM single and double sided HSK spindle speeds. The head features hydraulic clamping with a maximum clamping force of 4,496 lbs. The indexing function has auto angle positioning on the B and C axes, which have an angle of +/-110° and +/-200°, respectively. Indexing precision is +/-0.03/300.

All V-Tec by Vision Wide machines maintain a single-source core concept, which incorporates all machining processes-from raw material input to final machining-in just one machine. "This is done through specialized machine configurations that offer maximum productivity and improved machining accuracy while also reducing production lead times and lowering operating expenses," said the spokesperson.

According to the company, single source one-step capabilities include:

  • Increased capacity, flexibility and productivity
  • Improved machining accuracy and overall part quality
  • Streamlined production and boosted output with fewer machines
  • Maximized use of shop floor space
  • Enhanced overall management and enabled production of parts on demand
  • Reduced part costs from fewer fixtures and less tooling.
