CNC offers Conversational Programming

OSAI has developed conversational programming for milling machines. Within the software is fill in the blank drilling and milling cycles. It is a complete entry-level system that can be supplied as a black box configuration or an integrated 15" color TFT all in one compact panel. The CNC features an embedded Windows CE format or a Windows XP/7 for offline programming. The CNC provides user-friendly management of the software with touch screen, mouse or function keys.

Drilling and Milling

The conversational software provides a variety of cycles, such as bolt hole drilling patterns, pocket milling and slot milling. Each cycle is a single page with graphic icons and fill in the blank parameters to complete the cycle. Error checking and help information is provided for each cycle.

Geometry Editor

The OSAI Geometry Editor (OGE) can create profiles with lines, arcs and preset shapes such as rectangles. Users will have the ability to input known data auto-calculating the unknown data to complete the element configuration. Users will also have the ability to import DXF files and generate G-code programs.

Graphics

The plotter is designed to provide quick verification. It features single block plotting, adjustable speed, panning and zooming. The plot status bar displays axis position and corresponding program blocks. Integrated into the program creation, users can plot a single conversational cycle or complete tree while the program is being created.

OPENcontrol's compact CNC includes an all-in-one panel with 15" touch screen, touch pad, USB port on the front, keyboard, 14 configurable buttons with LED, two push buttons and emergency button.

Although there are several configurations possible, some applications can be considered classical, being the most used by many machine tool builders. Without restriction to any other settlement, the typical configurations noted by the company include:

  • Entry level: The entry level configuration is based on OPEN-XS CNC black box with options of EtherCAT, Analog, Pulse & Direction and MechatrolinkIII to manage the servo drives. For this configuration, the OPEN-XS COMPACT module (a panel including OPEN-XS, monitor, keyboard, touchpad and control panel) is often used.
  • Best seller: The most used configuration includes OPEN-M CNC equipped with OSWire or Mechatrolink III axes board to manage the YASKAWA Sigma 5 SD modular servo drives. OPENconsole COMPACT (monitor, keyboard, touchpad and control panel) and OPENrio I/O modules complete the configuration.
  • Top level: Top range systems use OPEN-XL CNC, a Dual Core CNC that can run two operating systems (Windows CE for the real-time SW on one core and WES2009 for the HMI on the second core). The OPENconsole Operator Panel and the OPENrio modular I/O system provide the look, performance and modularity required by a top-level configuration, according to the company.

Full Proprietary

Full integration and competitive prices for this system using OS-Wire, the consolidated OSAI fast digital fieldbus to manage the OD600 servo-drives. The OPEN-M CNC is equipped with Modular OPENconsole or COMPACT and OPENrio.
