The newly developed precision machine DIXI 270 from DMG MORI has a large work area of 2,700 x 2,700 x 1,600 mm (X x Y x Z). Tobias Steiner, Managing Director of Dixi Machines, a Division of Mori Seiki International SA, in Le Locle said: "The portal machine achieves three times improved volumetric accuracy of <60 um being designed with special features. The highly precise portal machine with 3-point support and parts cast in GGG60 guarantees highest rigidity and stability for most complex machining. For example, large aerospace components are economically produced or the machine can be used in the field of precision moldmaking."
"Heavy components up to 3,000 mm diameter, 1,600 mm height as well as 12 t maximum weight can be efficiently rough-machined in one set-up with the DIXI 270 (for example with the powerMASTER 1000 motor spindle with up to 1,000 Nm torque and 77 kW power). In addition, the machine dynamics with 5 m/s acceleration and fast feed rates with 60 m/min combined with three times higher volumetric accuracy ensure efficient finishing conditions," said Mr. Steiner.
"After more than 500 hours of scraping, the precision-relevant contact surfaces are so flat, straight and square that only minimum shape and position tolerances are possible on the component during the high-precision interaction of all linear and rotary axes," said Mr. Steiner. Intensive cooling measures of the DIXI 270 contribute to the accuracy of the precision machine: The headstock including housing, B-axis motor and motor spindle are part of these cooling measures as well as the C-axis motor in the NC rotary table, the X-, Y- and Z-axis motor and the feed axes, the machine bed with support as well as linear guides in X-, Y- and Z-direction. A spindle-growth sensor monitors and compensates temperature- and speed-dependent displacements of the spindle.
The DIXI 270 is equipped with Operate 4.5 on the SIEMENS 840D solutionline control. Operate 4.5 is the new system platform from DMG MORI for all machines with SIEMENS control - from entry to high-end class. Operate 4.5 comprises the entire automation technology of a machine tool, from the drives to the CNC control. Furthermore, Operate 4.5 provides users with a standard user interface for all technologies.
