All-LED Illumination for Optical Comparators

"Proper illumination is the most vital technology for part inspection when using an optical comparator," said a company spokesperson. "Conventional optical comparators are typically equipped with tungsten halogen or mercury arc light sources, both of which suffer from thermal cycling, causing them to fatigue quickly and requiring frequent replacement.

"The Contour Projector family of systems from Certified Comparator Products (CCP) includes the latest comparator technology - QVI TruLight illumination. TruLight LEDs are ideal comparator light sources since they are cool operating, long lasting, very bright and have low energy consumption. The controls for TruLight LEDs allow easy adjustment of intensity and turn on and off instantly. LEDs are also versatile and compact, allowing them to fit into smaller lamphouses and be arranged in arrays to provide directional illumination.

"CCP Contour Projectors are the only comparators on the market to offer three LED light sources, including a profile back light, coaxial surface light and ring light. The profile light offers maximum screen brightness - even for 20-inch comparators - while the coaxial surface light and exclusive ring light provide good surface illumination, allowing for effective measurement of surface details."
