Digital Readout for Turret Mills and Lathes

Newall has introduced its DP500 Mill and Lathe Packages designed for the turret mill and tool room lathe market.

The DP500 DRO comes with features such as absolute and incremental readings, radius/diameter readings, error compensation and inch/metric instant conversion. The unit also includes a tool offset library that compensates for different tools' lengths for turning operations. The offsets can be manually programed or they can be entered on-the-fly. For milling applications, the DP500 includes bolt hole circle routine. Users enter the data via the message prompts and the DP500 calculates the coordinates of each hole within the circle, saving the operator time.

The DP500 DRO Package is available in two or three axes for turret mills with travels up to 16" (406 mm) x 36" (914 mm) and for two axes lathes with up to 80" (2 M) between centers.

The DP500 Packages come with Spherosyn LT or Microsyn LT encoders. These encoders feature the same inductive technology and IP67 rating as Newall's Spherosyn 2G encoders and are designed to provide accurate readings under harsh environmental conditions.

"Like all of the Newall products, the DP500 Mill and Tool Room Lathe Packages are designed and manufactured in the UK by Newall. In addition, the packages are backed, locally, by the support of Newall's knowledgeable Technical and Customer Support Teams," said a company spokesperson.
