Okuma's latest horizontal lathe LB45III is designed to handle massive parts required in the oil and agriculture industries.
Okuma presented the latest advancement in its LB45III-Series of horizontal lathes at EMO. "The LB45III is the ideal choice for handling massive parts like the threaded pipes and long shafts required by the oil and agriculture industries. The specific challenges of these industries often demand a lathe that is built to not only accommodate massive material but also to handle it with precision," said a company spokesperson.
"With Okuma's strong base casting at the foundation, the machine offers some of the longest available beds, allowing for large diameter machining in a variety of spindle sizes. What it gains in size, it never loses in power, as it allows for even heavier milling than its predecessors do. The LB45III maintains Okuma standards for maximum torque and precision regardless of machine dimension." Fast motion from end to end is designed for accuracy while a low RPM extends the machine's life and finishing capabilities. Equipped with ball screws the LB45III is built to perform slideway movement to both axes, providing higher cutting speeds and feedrates, thus increasing productivity.
The LB45III can be operated with the manufacturer's OSP suite, which offers a variety of applications tailored to meet the operator's specific demands. One such feature is the Machining Navi L-g, which suppresses chatter that can occur in lathe applications-especially when turning at lower speeds. Machining Navi counteracts this with automatic spindle variation while maintaining safe speeds at all times.
