Grinding Center for Flexibility in Demanding Applications

The MFP 50 combines design, flexibility and performance. MÄGERLE presented the MFP 50 at EMO 2015. Drilling and milling operations were demonstrated in a single clamping, in addition to various 5-axis simultaneous grinding operations.

The MFP 50 grinding and machining center has been developed for multiple-side and complete machining of complex workpieces in a single clamping. High axis speeds and quick tool change are engineered for minimal auxiliary times and high productivity.

The integrated tool changer of the MFP 50 equips the spindle with the necessary tool for the respective machining task. In addition to grinding wheels, drilling and milling tools, there is also a measuring probe for performing quality controls of the clamping automatically and for determining allowances and offsets.

"An overhead dressing system controlled by two axes continuously dresses the grinding wheels and guarantees high metal removal rate and profile accuracy, even with difficult to machine materials. The intelligent design principle takes production quality, safety and cost efficiency to a new level," said a company spokesperson.

A bi-axially controlled nozzle is designed for optimal cooling lubricant supply for external machining tools. Nozzles are available for drilling and milling tools, or an optional cooling lubricant supply can be provided via the spindle. The two-axis NC combination comprises a swivel axis and an integrated rotational axis, built for the high requirements on production tolerances during workpiece machining.

An optional dynamic balancing system is also available for grinding wheels on the MFP 50, as well as tool monitoring with a comprehensive software package.
