5-Axis HMC for Heavy Part Production

As part of Toyoda's FA Horizontal Series, the FA 1050 5-axis machining center was engineered for repeatability and continuous production of heavy parts. It features a 6,000 RMP spindle and the structural capability to securely cut large workpieces in +/-0.001 mm linear repeatability.

"Unlike comparable linear guideway systems, this heavy-duty 1050's box-way guide is hand scraped for smooth, precise movements allowing for easy flow of oil between surfaces and machine life longevity," said a company spokesperson. "Perfect for machine shops producing large, complex parts, the FA 1050 5-axis continuously provides accurate cuts, all while taking on strong impacts from up to 4,400 lb. workloads."

Specifications:

  • Pallet size: 41.3" x 41.3" (1,050 mm x 1,050 mm)
  • X-axis travel (work table): 59.1" (1,500 mm)
  • Y-axis travel (spindle head): 55.1" (1,400 mm)
  • Z-axis travel (column): 45.2" (1,150 mm)
  • Maximum work load: 4,400 lbs. (2,000 kg)
  • Spindle speed: 6,000 RPM.

The company reported the following structural machining advantages:

  • Replaceable spindle taper
  • Column designed at low center of gravity for secured cutting
  • Thermal displacement sensors adjust for ballscrew heat expansion during machining
  • Tight tolerances maintained for each cut
  • Largest work load envelope in its class with wide tilt range angle to reach difficult features
  • Double row cylindrical roller bearings providing level support
  • Large radial load capacity.
