Why Today's Manufacturers Need High Speed, Fiber Optic Networks

DQE Communications (DQE), a provider of high-speed, fiber-optic networking for businesses and carriers throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia, offers its new e-Book entitled "Yo, Robot! Network Solutions for Manufacturers and Industry 4.0."

"With the rise of digitally-enabled advances such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industrial IoT (IIoT), the network solutions provider is on a mission to ensure that modern enterprises, including manufacturers, have the high-speed, high capacity networks they need to power production," said a company spokesperson.

According to management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, Industry 4.0 describes the ongoing digital transformation of the manufacturing sector. This trend is largely being driven by surging data volumes, improved analytics and business intelligence applications, enhanced human-machine interaction and new production processes like advanced robotics and 3-D printing. Overall, Industry 4.0 applications enable manufacturers to drive greater production efficiency, cost savings, advanced enterprise resource planning and improved business continuity solutions. However, to realize the full benefits of such new technologies, companies require modern, reliable, fiber optic-based networks that are customized to their requirements.

"Pennsylvania is home to many leading, innovative manufacturing groups who are adopting new, data-intensive applications to achieve improved automation and operational efficiency," said Jim Morozzi, President and CEO of DQE Communications. "However, companies that want to get the most out of their technological investments need to ensure that their network infrastructure is keeping pace with the rest of their digital transformations. Legacy networking technologies simply cannot keep pace with the volume of data Industry 4.0 manufacturers are generating. Fortunately, we have a history of proven success in working with leading manufacturers to developing reliable solutions for the connectivity challenges they face."

Across western Pennsylvania, DQE works with manufacturers and other organizations to provide customized network solutions that can support ongoing business growth and new capabilities.
